A toast to the latest in mom life, spring finds, HTM reader faves & more.

to the daily grind

I’d love to say that April was some kind of fantastic month, but like the weather, it had its downpours and surprising peaks of sunshine. It was definitely a month where I didn’t quite feel like I was doing any one thing exceptionally well…changes at work, unknown seizure activity for my little, and plain overall lack of motivation is probably how I’d sum it up. Nothing to write home about…just enough for my blog (wink, wink).

No, but in all honesty, I share this because in a world of posting all the good things and pretty photos online, I think it’s important to remember it’s not all roses. I decided to allow myself grace and not get too caught up in not feeling enough.

But that said, I want more. I want to feel more, I want to do more, I want more out of everyday life than just the grind. As I described in my last March post, my regular practice of gratitude and intention is something I’ve been able to focus on and I’ll give it credit to helping me identify this bit of funk before it started to spin farther out of control. So I’m slowly finding small things to refocus myself on…getting back to reading, waking up to prayer before anything else and ending the day the same. I’m going to stay focused on my word – Intention – and not let it slip before year end.

On the plus side, my husband and I got out for a fun date night even during a week we were in our own funk and it really helped us put our feelings out on the table (along with dessert before dinner and a glass of wine).

And the peaks of sunshine, well, they were more like double rainbows! I had two exact moments where I FELT God and all his glory. Listen, I’m not really one who says that often…or really ever. I believe He is with us, but I’m not one to tell you I actually feel the presence. I’m the person searching…and focusing… and just knowing I’m not alone. But there was something about this month that allowed the presence to be seen and felt. And so I know my intentions are focused on the right things and by being present and open to feeling more, you can and you will.

Hi there! I’m Erin and mom to three amazing kids and wife to the best husband around IMHO! We’re doing our best to find joy in our days and love in our hearts even when things are hard. Our middle daughter has a catastrophic form of epilepsy that affects every part of her life and ours. She’s taught us more than we could have ever learned about the importance of life, love and God. Our days aren’t anything glamorous, but I’ve learned to take time for the things I enjoy. As mom, wife, friend and just good ole’ me. I think it’s important for you to take care of yourself too – have fun, remember you’re amazing and be confident in what you wear, what you eat and what you feel. So here’s to you, here’s to us, and here’s to this amazing thing we get to do every day as momma!
